Goodbye winter weather and dreary days. Everything is greening up and our families are getting outside for all our favorite activities. It's time to leave the heavy coats behind and break out the sandals. I feel lighter already.

So . . . "What should we wear for spring?" Here are just a few tips to get your family looking your best for your session.

Think Spring! Think about all that's happening outside and consider nature as your inspiration. Use light colors and lighter weight clothes. Spring temps can still be cool so it is a great idea to incorporate some layers as needed. Cold family members don't make for happy pictures. It's perfectly okay to use light jackets or a cardigan, but think Spring!

Plan around Mom's or your girls' outfits. Many times ladies clothing includes more patterns or designs. Keep any patterns small rather than bold or bright. Use the pattern or colors from that one outfit to choose what the rest of the family will wear.

Accessories and shoes are so important. Accessories can add dimension and interest to your photos, so layer on a necklace and earrings, belt, or beautiful scarf. And let's not forget the shoes! Especially when coming out of winter, check to ensure you have the right shoes for the look. Make sure those cute sandals still fit the kids and are in great shape. Make sure they are clean and photo ready. Shoes are an item you should consider replacing if they're not up to par.

Most importantly, pick something you love and feel good in. You don't have to buy new outfits for pictures. Sometimes going to a favorite piece is just perfect. Do ensure that favorite still looks new.

I hope that puts a you in the mind for spring. I don't know about you, but after our last bout of winter weather, I'm willing spring to come! Bring on the warmer temps and sunshine.
