Junior year is wrapping up, and this next year is definitely all for you! It's a celebration of all you've accomplished during your years in school, it's about making memories with your friends, and it's definitely a time for great senior photos.

And while some seniors enjoy just one session, some like to plan ahead for lots of options. There are cap and gown mini sessions and sports sessions. There are even four seasons sessions, where you can capture a little something during each season of your senior year. So whether you want just one session or you like lots of options, there's something for everyone.

Now back to our question, when's the best time for senior photos and how should you prepare? Here's a quick run down of all the seasons and what works best.

SPRING

There's definitely some major perks to scheduling your senior photos during the spring of your junior year. Everything is coming back into bloom, and nature is looking her finest. A late April or May session tends to give beautiful days that aren't too hot. That means you're comfortable for your session and can wear a variety of outfits comfortably. Want to do jeans and a sweater? That works! Want to have some photos in shorts or a sundress? You can plan that too! Weather wise, spring can give you the best of both worlds for planning your outfits.

Spring offers a variety of natural props, such as blooming flowers, flowering trees, and fresh foliage, which can enhance the visual interest of senior photos. These elements can add texture, color, and personality to the images without the need for extra props.

You also get your photos before senior year even begins. That means you have lots to share and enjoy all senior year long.

SUMMER

Are you a summer lover? Yep, it's my season too. Long lazy days with a freer schedule is a great time to schedule your session. School is out, and it's your last summer of high school. Longer days and warmer temperatures make summer the perfect time for your photos. We can explore different locations with ample time and even catch the sunset for a beautiful golden hour finale. Enjoy the down time and get your photos too.

Summer brings lush greenery, blooms galore, and vibrant landscapes. This season truly is a stunning backdrop for photos. Wildflowers, golden fields, and dirt roads are the perfect summer spots.

Summer gives you a range of wardrobe options, from breezy dresses to sporty shirts and shorts. Glowing skin will make for beautiful photos. This season is one of fun and relaxation so embrace the carefree feel of the season. Whether it's splashing in the water or a picnic in the park, let your favorite summer memories be part of your session. And once again, summer ensures you have your photos even before the school year starts.

FALL

Fall, with its vibrant colors, crisp air, and cozy feel, is just right for your senior shoot. The leaves change to beautiful shades of orange, red, and yellow making the backdrop for your photos a stunning masterpiece. Whether you're in a park, forest, or even a tree-lined street the fall foliage will make your photos pop.

Sweater weather, all things pumpkin spice, and gorgeous leaves are here. If this describes you, then fall is definitely fitting. Jeans, boots, chunky sweaters, and a jacket for layering are the perfect look for this season.

Fall offers a variety of natural props that add interest and personality to your photos, from leaves to pumpkins to hay bales. Bring a warm blanket to wrap yourself in and you're set for your shoot.

Finally, the hot weather has subsided, and the cooler temperatures provide a comfortable setting. School is back in session, and your senior year has officially begun. Taking your photos is a great way to kick off the year.

WINTER

Okay, let's be honest, winter may or may not give us snow in Missouri! But if you love the idea of a winter wonderland, definitely communicate that. and we'll be on the lookout. A winter shoot is definitely unique and a standout for your senior session. At the same time, be sure to have an alternate plan should that snow day not come.

Those beautiful flakes transform what seems to be cold and bare to a winter wonderland. From frosted trees to snow covered landscapes, winter pictures are a great addition to your senior photos.

Winter fashion gives you the chance to layer and include beautiful textures and patters in your photos. The contrast of your warm attire again the winter white backdrop will create striking imagery.

I hope this gives you some good inspiration and food for thought when planning your own session. Congrats Seniors, your photos are a special way to capture this moment before stepping into the next chapter! Whether you live in Webb City, Joplin, Carthage, Carl Junction or beyond I look forward to meeting you soon.

XO,

April
